Early Years Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS)

COVID-19 Response

Providing trauma informed support to educators is at the core of what we do, and now more than ever, our work needs to continue. The current COVID-19 situation has meant that we while we can’t be there to offer support physically, we have found new ways to respond to the needs of our Early Years Educators and their centres virtually which has allowed us to continue delivering services across Victoria.

If you have any questions about your current service or would like to find out how we can assist your team with SRF, please get in touch with us by emailing tracs@amf.org.au or calling us on 03 9697 0666.

What is TraCS?

Trauma comes in many forms, such as physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, family violence, community violence, family breakdown, grief and loss, exposure to mental illness and substance addiction.

Children who have experienced trauma can be very difficult for early years staff to manage – exhibiting challenging behaviours as well as difficulties regulating emotions. They can require intensive support to get them ‘school ready’.

Drawing on the Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s extensive experience working with vulnerable children, our Early Years Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS) helps early years staff work with children aged 3-5 years affected by trauma – enabling staff to understand challenging behaviours and how best to respond to them.

  • TraCS is designed with over 13 touchpoints each year – enabling consultants to develop a relationship with you so that, together, we can be truly impactful.
  • TraCS consultants come to you, so that work is undertaken collaboratively and in context.
  • Our TraCS consultants are responsive to your needs, and customise the service to suit your setting.
  • TraCS is on the Department of Education and Training School Readiness Funding menu.

TraCS Intensive

Are there four or more kinders in your region?

If four or more kinders in your region are interested in TraCS, we can explore the possibility of locating a TraCS practitioner within your kinders to work intensively with your early years staff (kinders do not need to be a part of the same EYM/long daycare group).

In addition to receiving TraCS Platinum package benefits, there are many advantages to co-location, including additional hours of service, drawing on local knowledge, skills and networks, and growing these strengths in the local community.
