The Alannah & Madeline Foundation Ambassador Melissa Doyle receives Order of Australia honour

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is delighted to congratulate Melissa Doyle on being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) as part of this week’s Australia Day honours.

Ms Doyle AM received the distinguished title for her “significant service to the community through representational roles with a range of charitable groups, and to the broadcast media" on Tuesday 26 January.

The television personality became an Ambassador with the Foundation in 2014 and has since worked tirelessly to help promote its work, values and messages to protect children from violence and bullying.

Ms Doyle said she felt privleged to be able to lend her voice and profile to charities, such as the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, in order to keep children safe and happy.

“The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is an incredible organisation and as a mum of two it’s something I’m extremely proud to be part of,” Ms Doyle said.

“It is an honour to help promote the amazing work the Foundation does right across Australia because I can see the difference it makes firsthand.”

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation Chairman John Bertrand AM and CEO Dr Judith Slocombe both said the acknowledgement was a true testament to Ms Doyle’s dedication to help protecting young people from violence and bullying.

“On behalf of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, I want to congratulate Melissa on the award and thank her for all that she has done for us,’’ Mr Bertrand said.

“We look forward to working with her, particularly in 2016 as we commemorate the 20th anniversary Port Arthur tragedy,” Dr Slocombe said.

The Member of the Order of Australia acknowledgment is awarded for service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group.
