Tasmanian Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC

"I am honoured to join the Founding Patron, International Patron and National Patron as the new Tasmanian Patron of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

"The Foundation is based in Melbourne with strong links to our Island State.  As Tasmanian Patron, I shall fulfil my role to the best of my abilities.

"I look forward to working with the Foundation and participating in Foundation endeavours in the coming years.

"For 12 years I was a Judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. During this time, I specialised in family law matters.  I saw time and time again the importance of the imperative to protect vulnerable children. Because all children are vulnerable, I commend the proactive work of the Foundation and of your continuing efforts to develop initiatives to address child protection.

"Children face increasingly complex dangers.  Our mission and role as leaders is to do what we can to make children’s place in our society safer.  The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is a true leader in Australia."

Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC
Governor of Tasmania
