Starry Starry Night 2008
Lexus of Blackburn presented the 11th Starry Starry Night, Melbourne’s most prestigious fundraising gala event at Crown Palladium on Saturday 22nd November.
Guests revelled in a night of watching some of Australia’s biggest celebrity names as they took to the stage for the love themed event, while others hosted tables: more than 100 well known celebrities were among the thousand-strong crowd.
Hosts Karl Stefanovic and Giaan Rooney from the Nine Network had the crowd in fine form in anticipation of the entertainment ahead and Australian Idol’s Madam Parker opened the show with a great rendition of Rhianna’s Please don’t stop the music, backed by 40 dancers.
A suspender-clad Derryn Hinch led Nine personalities Glen Moriarty, Blair McDonough, Georgia Sinclair and Lauren Phillips in a dynamic version of the Time warp; Starry Starry Night regulars, jockeys Damien Oliver, Steve Baster, Paul Saunders and Mark Zahra were back again, this time belting out AC/DC’s Long way to the top where they were joined by an exuberant Karl on the bagpipes.
Thanks to all the other performers for such a fantastic and memorable night: Jay La’gaia, Virginia Gay, Simon Westaway, Steve Hooker, Gorgi Quill, Nathan Thompson, Shannon Grant, Daniel Harris, Matt Lee, Jack Chambers, Tegan Rogers, Sara Groen, Russell Robertson, Luke Ball, Rodger Corser, Renae Berry and the Daddy Cool of Australian rock, Ross Wilson.
The night raised more than $570,000 for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to help keep children safe from violence.
Thank you to all the generous sponsors and supporters who helped to make the night a huge success. Also to everyone who attended, including all of the celebrities who generously gave of their time to host tables.
