Almost 10 years ago Jean Beliveau undertook the mission to walk through six continents to spread the message of peace and non-violence for children.
Jean is now in Australia, his 64th country, and after proving his credentials by completing the Darwin to Townsville leg in 40 degree temperatures and mostly relentless solitude, Jean is about to commence his "down hill run home", a mere 20 months of easy walking beginning in Townsville this Sunday February 14th.
With over 64,500km covered of his 75,000km goal to return home to Montreal, Canada, Jean's wwwalk is already the longest ever made by a human without returning home. Thousands of people from many countries along Jean's way have been involved in the cause to raise awareness of the rights of children.
Cahala Kites are supporting Jean's journey by helping him promote his message of peace and non-violence for children, and fundraising for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation during the Australian leg. The first of 15 Kite wwwalk events will be staged on Sunday morning Feb 14 from 9 to 11 am at Rossiter Park, Townsville. $1 of every $5 kite purchased, plus all gold coin donations to walk with Jean, will be donated to The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Date: Sunday 28 February 2010
Time: 9.30am to 11.30am. The walk will begin at 11.30am
Location: Queens Park, Mackay
