Exposure to violence can impact significantly on a child's physical, social and emotional development.
Our Intensive Support Program helps children by focusing on what they need to recover from traumatic events or violent circumstances. The program's holistic approach addresses the significant areas in children's lives and development.
We work with children to build their resilience to help them manage the complicated emotional circumstances in which they find themselves. Our Case Managers work collaboratively with relevant agencies to make sure children who are suffering the effects of violence, and their families, have the community connections needed for immediate and long term support.
TopCare plans are developed for children referred to our Intensive Support Program. These plans ensure children are provided with the relevant therapeutic support essential to their recovery. Parents and carers are also provided with support to help them understand child behaviours from a trauma perspective and to learn effective ways of responding.
Our Program is designed to provide intensive support to children and their families for up to 2 years. An ongoing relationship is fostered and maintained with children referred to our Program until they reach adulthood, so they have the necessary support to make a full recovery.
This Program is currently available to children residing in Melbourne and surrounding areas.
