On the morning of 29 January 2009, four-year-old Darcey Freeman was tragically killed, on a day which should have been her first day at school.

Darcey’s mother and her family asked The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to assist them after their loss, and to help manage enquiries from people wanting to show their support for the family by way of donation.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation set up a fund in memory of their beloved Darcey and to contribute to the future wellbeing of her two brothers, Ben and Jack.

You can make a donation securely online here or by phoning 1300 720 747.

The family also asked the Foundation to work with the relevant parties to establish a national celebration of all children, an idea which received enormous public endorsement. With the support of the Victorian Government's Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and Melbourne Museum, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation launched Children365 in memory of Darcey.

Darcey’s mother and her family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their sympathy and support, following the loss of their precious little girl.
