Children365 was launched by the Victorian Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, The Hon Maxine Morand, on Sunday 1 November 2009, at a special family day at Melbourne Museum.
The Alannah and Madeline Foundation initiative Children365 encourages all of us to cherish and protect our children every single day of the year. It marks the start of a year of activity for the Foundation which is designed to give people practical ways they can engage positively with their children.
Children365 was launched on the last day of Children's Week, 1 November 2009, at a Family Fun Day at the Melbourne Museum, hosted by The Victorian State Government. It signified the end of a week of celebrating children and the commitment to continue celebrating them every day of the year.
At the Family Fun Day children and their families enjoyed free activities including kite, shield and puppet making workshops; fun with children's book authors Andy Griffiths, Sally Rippen and Felice Arena as well as Go For Your Life and Auskick activities with The Alannah and Madeline Foundation Ambassadors Giann Rooney and Dipper. Children were also able to get creative with food through Rangoli, they had fun with Minmi the Dinosaur and Buddy Bear, explored technology through e-learning activities and were entertained by Joining the Chorus.
Thank you to the Melbourne Museum for supporting Children365 by generously extending its free entry policy for children to adults on the day, to The Victorian State Government for hosting the event, and to everyone involved who made it such a wonderful and enjoyable day.
Children365 encourages adults to make promises and declarations to their children for the year ahead and a free annual calendar featuring great ideas for spending time with your children. Pick up a copy of the Children365 calendar in National Pharmacies in Victoria or download a copy here.
