Schools may register their interest in receiving a Better Buddies Framework for the 2011 school year and will receive ongoing support and information to help them plan for implementation.  Schools who register their interest will be notified when a sponsored position becomes available.

The Better Buddies Framework will be sent to schools before the end of the school year to enable them to plan for the following school year.  When your application for a sponsored place is accepted you will be provided with all the materials you will need including The Better Buddies Framework which explains how to get the best out of your buddy system, together with Student Training and Classroom Activities, containing social skills and values along with advice on engaging with your local community to provide your school with support, volunteers and resources to undertake Better Buddies in your school.  Once accepted as a Better Buddies school, you will receive additional activities and ideas for each Better Buddies Key Event throughout the year.  As a Better Buddies school, you will continue to receive information, newsletters and updates throughout your implementation and during successive years.  You will receive support and assistance with Better Buddies every step of the way and into the future as it evolves to meet the needs of your community.

There are some obligations for sponsored schools. In applying for a sponsored position your school is agreeing to:

  • Involve your nominated NAB representative or community volunteer (where applicable) in Better Buddies Key Events and maintain a line of communication with them.
  • Complete independent surveys through RMIT in September each year.
  • Assist with media opportunities to promote your school's Better Buddies Framework, the community involvement from NAB, other sponsors and the Foundation where applicable.

Once accepted as a Better Buddies school there is no need to reapply for subsequent years.  Your school is automatically included as a Better Buddies school into the future.
