Celebrities and their families will take on a different role next
Friday night as they play the part of deckhand to world-class
sailing champions as part of the Royal Brighton Yacht Clubs ‘Top
of the Bay’ Keelboat Regatta.
The RBYC will be hosting a celebrity race in support of it’s
partner charity The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Expert sailors, such as John Bertrand, America’s Cup winner,
and numerous other Olympian sailors, will be at the helm teaming
up with the likes of Totti Goldsmith, Damien Oliver, Nick Riewoldt
and Trevor Marmalade, for a fun race followed by a charity auction
and raffle.
“I’ll be giving my crew a real taste of competitive sailing,
it’s a fun race but there’s still got to be a winner! It’s a fabulous
event that gets everyone involved, the celebrities and their families
get on board for a good cause,” said John Bertrand AM, Chairman
The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
RBYC boasts an enviable membership of yachting personalities,
including Honorary Life Member John Bertrand AM, winner of the
America’s Cup; Honorary Life Member Mark Turnbull AM, Gold Medalist
at the Sydney Olympics; Sarah Blanck, Victoria’s only sailing
representative to the Athens Olympics; and numerous other world
champions.
From the likes of newsreaders, television hosts, football star’s
and comedian’s, come this Friday Brighton Yacht Club is sure to
host a spectacular race.
The Regatta will be on all weekend wrapping up on Sunday morning
with a charity breakfast hosted by John Bertrand AM with all proceeds
