Motorcycle-riding Santas Deliver Presents to Child Victims of Crime

More than 30 Patriots Motorcycle Club riders took on the role of Santa today, delivering Christmas presents and hampers around Melbourne to children who are victims of crime such as physical and sexual abuse.

Boasting more horsepower between them than Santa’s reindeers, the Patriots, who are serving and ex-members of the Defence Forces, helped The Alannah and Madeline Foundation staff deliver presents received through their sixth annual Christmas Gift Appeal.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s Children Ahead Manager Debbie Cook said the level of support the Foundation had received for its appeal was heartwarming.

“Last year we helped around 400 children but this year more than 900 children across Australia will enjoy a Christmas present from the Foundation.

“Many people take for granted that Christmas is a time for giving and receiving but often the children we assist do not receive any presents,” Mrs Cook said.

“We attempt to bring some joy into their lives and the present delivery by the Patriots adds to the fun.”

The tinsel-clad Patriots treated some of the older children to a spin on their motorcycles.

Various retailers, companies, community organisations and individuals donated the presents for the appeal.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation was established in honour of two little girls who lost their lives at the Port Arthur tragedy. The Foundation assists children who are victims of crime or who have experienced the sudden loss of a family member.
